Global Pulse — The Instability Event Index (IEI)
The Instability Event Index (IEI) is a single composite global-risk score on a 0–100 scale, fusing five live sub-indices spanning conflict, nuclear posture, infrastructure, humanitarian conditions, and markets. The IEI refreshes continuously and is shown with its 24-hour and 30-day change.
Sub-Indices
- Conflict Tempo — pace and intensity of armed conflict and military activity.
- Atomic Stress — nuclear posture, proliferation signals, and atomic risk.
- Systems Disruption — infrastructure, cyber, and critical-systems instability.
- Humanitarian & Geo — humanitarian conditions and geopolitical pressure.
- Market Risk — financial-market stress and economic instability.
Risk Bands
- Low — 0–20
- Guarded — 20–40
- Elevated — 40–60
- High — 60–80
- Severe — 80–100
The composite and each sub-index are normalized to the same 0–100 scale and mapped to one of the five risk bands. A historical trend chart and a recent-trend sparkline show how the index has moved over time.
